The project was conducted through the Human-Computer Interaction 1 course at the University of Manitoba. The project aims to consider user interfaces and design principles through user-centered design.
My group created a contractor search website that uniquely featured an user feed of project updates with photos, a description and tag of the corresponding contractor. Another intuitive feature included a "dollhouse" layout for users to filter contractor listings by a given room's service requirements. Users could select a contractor, book an appointment with them, request a quote or review the contractor.
We utilized user-centered design to investigate, ideate, prototype, and evaluate a design. We formed core user requirements, outlined a storyboard, constructed paper prototypes, implement a vertical prototype, and perform a heuristic evaluation as a group.
The website was programmed with HTML/CSS and Javascript. Our group strategy was to each work on one core webpage and implement the front end and back end independently and then combine our work and unify the design and layout. We collaborated our work using GitHub via VSCode.
The design was further modified independently as a personal project.
